A thank you letter arrived today from the winners of 2012 wedding competition. Receiving thanks and knowing I have made people so happy makes my job the best job in the world! When I launched the competition I wanted to give someone the opportunity to have beautiful wedding photographs even if they couldn’t afford it. Charlotte & Sam were the perfect winners and I feel like I have made new friends that I hope to photograph in the future. Check out their thoughts and kind words below…..
When a friend of mine told me her photographer friend was running a competition to “win your wedding photography” I knew that I just HAD to try and win it! Money was tight and the budget was getting eaten away with bits I had not even thought about and I knew the photographer was something we would have to reluctantly compromise on if I didn’t try 110% to win. After months of campaigning, nagging, bribing and begging people to vote we got the call to say we had won! Oh my god was I excited??
When we met Kelly for the first time over chocolate cake and coffee, it felt like I had known her for years. We chatted, laughed and made plans, this for me was when the whole wedding malarkey really felt real. Kelly was brilliant, hilarious and oh so talented! Her portfolio was to die for and we just could not wait to see what she could do for our day.
On the day itself it felt like Kelly was just another guest with a camera which to us by that point she was, because as well as bring the most amazing photographer, she had also become a friend. Some of the images she captured I wasn’t even aware had happened, she told the story of our day in the finest detail, without missing a minute. I know it’s a huge cliche but the day does go by in a bit of a blur, but thanks to Kelly we have not missed a thing! There are photos of things that I had forgotten we had even had, of the cutest kiddie moments, the funniest adult moments and the loveliest of lovey moments! I’m sure she was like a stalker hiding in the bushes waiting to capture moments we didn’t know she had seen. The natural, unposed pictures are so real and ooze the essence of the day so well! The photographs are so phenomenal that it was hard to choose for the album, but wow what an album it is.
To sum Kelly up….would I recommend her? Dam right I would (and have). Would I want anything else from my wedding photo’s? No, there was not a minute missed! Is there a better wedding photographer out there? I reckon you would be hard pushed to find one as passionate, as clever, as fun, as friendly and as amazing as Kelly Weech.
Kelly thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the amazing opportunity you gave us. Never did I think my photographs would be so important to me, or so precious, but they captured the best moments of the best day and to us are completely priceless. ~ Charlotte & Sam
