Meet Ben and Lydia. What I love about this couple is that I knew their wedding would reflect their personality perfectly and it sure did. They opted to have a handfasting (also known as a Pagan wedding) and I felt really flattered that Lydia asked me to capture their big day. I couldn’t wait to photograph the details of the handfasting and to see my wonderful friends become Mr & Mrs Weir.
They chose to have a three day event held at Yurt Camp in Devon. The camp was wonderful and offered a great atmosphere from the off set. Many of the guests were excited to be staying in Yurt and our expectations were exceed with the luxury of the accommodation in the woods.
My favourite part of the wedding was the ceremony. In the woodlands with the midday sun shining through the trees, family and friends gathered in a circle to watch the couple make their vows (which they wrote themselves), exchange rings, share cake and mead, the Handfasting itself (loosely binding the hands of the couple), blessings and jump the broom stick. The ceremony felt intimate and really special.
Here is the story of their magical day.
